511 Sober 4th of July Picnic and Potluck
Join us for the annual 511 Fourth of July picnic on Saturday, July 4, 2026 from Noon to 3 at 511 Alano Club, 511 N Carroll Street in Madison.
This is a family event so feel free to bring partners, children, friends and family. We will provide buns, burgers and brats, as well as water & soft drinks. If you can, please bring a dish to pass.

District 20 Archives Speaker Meeting
Join us on May 10th for this special meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous, hosted by District 20 Archives where AA members with 25+ years of sobriety share their journey in AA.
511 Sunday Nite AA Speaker Meeting
AA Speaker Meeting - last Sunday of the month.
Speaker meetings have been a tradition at 511 over the years, where a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous tells their story of “what we used to be like, what happened, and what we are like now”, sharing their experience, strength and hope with the rest of us.
Come to the clubhouse or logon via Zoom for the 511 Sunday Nite AA Speaker on May 31st.

511 Spring Clean-up
We’ll be gathering at 11:00 am to do yard work and wash windows at the club.
Bring your gloves, rakes, pruning tools, ladders, cleaning rags and come help spruce up our building and grounds.
Pizza lunch will be provided at 1:30 for volunteers.
Celebration of Life for Ray Bish
Join us as we celebrate the life of William Ray Bish, our beloved 511 friend, who will be fondly remembered by everyone whose life he touched.
There will be a short service and the opportunity to share memories, followed by refreshments and fellowship.

The Lost Weekend (1945)
Writer Don Birnam (Ray Milland) is on the wagon. Sober for only a few days, Don is supposed to be spending the weekend with his brother, Wick (Phillip Terry), but, eager for a drink, Don convinces his girlfriend (Jane Wyman) to take Wick to a show. Don, meanwhile, heads to his local bar and misses the train out of town. After recounting to the bartender (Howard da Silva) how he developed a drinking problem, Don goes on a weekend-long bender that just might prove to be his last.
Running time: 101 minutes
511 Holiday Open House
Come join us for Christmas Day between 12:00 - 5:00 for fellowship and holiday cheer. All are welcome to attend.
Dinner will be served around 1:00. We only ask that you RSVP if planning on attending dinner so we have an idea of how many people to plan for.

Founder’s Day/AA 90th Anniversary Party at 511
Join us for Founder’s Day right here in Madison, WI!!
The 90th Anniversary of Alcoholics Anonymous will be celebrated in grand fashion during what is known as Founder’s Day weekend (June 6, 7, & 8, 2025) in Akron, Ohio, the birthplace of AA. For more information, visit the Founders' Day website: https://foundersday.org
For those of us who won’t be making the trip to Akron, we’ll be doing our own celebration of this important milestone at the downtown 511 Alano Club. Along with the usual picnic fair such as brats and fixin’s, cake, ice cream, and refreshments, there will be an archive presentation and an opportunity to purchase artwork that has been generously gifted to the Alano Society.
All are welcome! We hope to see you there!
Spring Sober Social
511 is hosting a Spring Sober Social event!!
"Nojitos" (i.e. fancy fruit drinks) and NA sparkling wines & beers will be provided by Kristi Tanner of the Sober Social Shop in Middleton. We will have several varieties of Ian's Pizza on hand, and a few games tables/card tables as well.
There is no charge for this event but space is limited so please let us know by March 13 if you and a friend, partner or family member plan to attend.
You can do so by emailing 511 at 511ncarrollst@gmail.com or adding your name(s) to the sign-up sheet at 511 or letting any of your 511 Board members know.
